Smallweb September To-Do

Did I mention it's Smallweb September? Well, not here I didn't. Oops.

Smallweb September is as good an excuse as any for me to remember this site exists and work on the endless, nigh-Sisyphean task of organizing all of the everything, putting it on my site, despairing of the state of social media, etc etc.

I wasn't sure I'd even feel like working on anything in particular at the start of the month, due to real-life obligations and a depressive episode, both of which have stopped up my creative activities like a cheap glitter bathbomb in the drain of life. It's turned out to be a good diversion, though, an excuse to go through blog posts, links, and other half-forgotten whatnot that I probably don't actually want to lose. I always appreciate a reminder to own my data.

The subject for the first discussion in Smallweb September was the structure of one's site, how you decided on it, stuff like that, and I didn't have a very useful answer. My site is pretty accidental, really. I put essays about magic on their own page because there were a bunch of them. I put "other writing" on a page because why wouldn't I? And then I have a bunch of smaller sections that started off as link garden beds, some of which are more developed than others. I don't have them all linked on the main page because I think it would look overwhelming! But it does mean the site feels a little, I don't know, unbalanced sometimes?

And then there's this page. My blog is still not very integrated into my website. It's never really been a priority for me, tbh… I wasn't sure if "this time" would stick when I got my omg.lol address. I'm still not sure it's actually stuck, considering I often go months between updates, but the nice thing about omg.lol is I can download my entries as markdown if I do decide I want to make them play nice with a static site generator at some point.

(And when Neato gets off the ground, I might just move my whole site into it! We'll see. I considered messing around here and uploading stuff as "pages" and just using weblog.lol as my base but it's always seemed like Neato was right around the corner and would be a much better fix, so I might as well wait for it.)

Will I post again this month? It is a mystery! But maybe!
