no, low, not sure how to go
no, low, not sure how to go
I'm thinking that I'd like to do some kind of spending challenge for myself, something like a stash buster but for more than just fabric or yarn. I have books to read. I have courses to study or review. I have stickers and blank books and pens and ink. I have hobbies that don't require materials at all, like writing.
I do have a record player I got for Christmas, so I am making some kind of exception for record shopping.
I'm considering a couple of possible exceptions that would make it more of a low-buy than a no buy:
- an exception for used books bought with store credit at my favorite local bookstore
- a secondhand list, where I keep a list of things I'd like to find secondhand and then if I find any of them at a thrift store or estate sale it's fair game
- a quest rule, which would basically mean I have to declare I need something and then source it specifically, probably locally
I'm not making a full exception for thrift stores because I am not great at self control in them, to be honest. I already do a lot of my shopping secondhand, so giving secondhand shopping a complete pass won't do that much.
Really what I want is to be more intentional. About my shopping, yes, but also in general. I've been suffering from the adhd dopamine rush thing more than usual lately and that isn't helping.
