First I must begin with public thanks: to Hekate and my local spirits, to the Gatekeeper and the Road Opener and the Librarian of the Forty Servants, and of course to Mara who guides our parenting.
In our school district, there are two magnet programs. One in particular, we thought would be a good fit for Bug. The process to get in involves a lottery, and there were... well, let's say "not a lot" of spots and leave it at that.
Bug was a gift from Mara, and Mara continually seems to be watching over her, but the odds here were tough so I decided it wouldn't hurt to call on some other Powers to intervene as well. The local spirits were an obvious choice, as I involve them in any major magical work I do that affects what I do here in our neighborhood and nearby areas. They helped with my job and our apartment; I make regular offerings to them to strengthen our relationship.
Hekate was a bit more of a whim- or I should say, a persistent thought that she wanted to be called in. I wasn't going to argue with her. The Servants were the wild card, I suppose, since I've never actually called on them before despite having read the book and following Tommie Kelley's Patreon, but I've been waiting for the right opening for a while now. Aside from my usual routine of offerings, I left out a special offering of bread, egg, fresh fruit and blood (orange). I promised public thanks and three times the offerings if it succeeded.
I'm going offering shopping tomorrow, because Bug got in! Definitely a success. And so here are public thanks to those who helped. Regular offerings really do add up, in my experience, and I'll definitely be working with the Forty Servants more as well.
